WORKING VISIT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY ON STATISTICS TO JAYHUN DISTRICT

On October 17, Jamshid Nurmahmadzoda, Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, paid a working visit to Jayhun District, where he became acquainted firsthand with the activities of agricultural farms, the process of growing agricultural products, and the progress of harvesting.

During the working visit, Azizullo Muhibullo Alizod, Chairman of Jayhun District, accompanied the Director of the Agency on Statistics. To learn about the activities of farmers and the achievements of the district’s agricultural sector, they visited a number of dehkan farms and fields planted with various crops.

First, the guests visited the “Saido” dehkan farm in the Istiklol rural jamoat, which specializes in growing pomegranate seedlings. During their visit, a productive discussion was held with experienced farmer Karimjon Butaev about cultivation practices, crop yields, and the prospects for developing pomegranate production.

The Director of the Agency on Statistics emphasized that pomegranates are among the fruits in high demand on the market and offer favorable export opportunities. Therefore, it is necessary to gradually expand the area devoted to this crop by applying advanced experience, observing agronomic practices, and making efficient use of land.

Continuing the visit, the delegation inspected early onion fields in the Vahdati Milli rural jamoat and carrot cultivation and harvesting fields in the Dusti township jamoat. During the inspection, particular attention was paid to the growth conditions of crops, the rational use of land, and increasing crop yields.

Farmers were provided with useful recommendations on making effective use of favorable weather conditions, carrying out agricultural operations on time, ensuring that plants receive the necessary nutrients, and properly maintaining crops. At the same time, the importance of increasing agricultural production and expanding export opportunities for onions and carrots was emphasized.

The farm owners stated that, by taking advantage of the existing favorable conditions and ensuring proper crop care, they were making every effort to achieve abundant harvests. They plan to obtain up to 600 centners of produce per hectare.

As the visit continued, the Director of the Agency on Statistics visited lemon-growing greenhouses in the Panj rural jamoat and became acquainted with the activities of local lemon growers and the results of their work. In particular, he learned about the experience of Abdurahim Toirov, an experienced lemon grower in the district, who has established six greenhouses near his home and five more at his dehkan farm, where he grows lemons, mandarins, oranges, limes, and grapefruits.

During the conversation, he noted that by making effective use of greenhouse facilities, lemon yields reach between 500 and 550 centners per hectare of greenhouse area. The produce is supplied to domestic markets, while a portion is exported abroad.

This experience demonstrates that developing greenhouse farming, using land efficiently, and introducing proper cultivation methods can play an important role in supplying the domestic market with fresh produce, increasing production volumes, and expanding export opportunities.

At the conclusion of the working visit, Jamshid Nurmahmadzoda, Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, highly praised the conscientious efforts and responsible work of the agricultural producers of Jayhun District and expressed his gratitude for their valuable contribution to agricultural production and the supply of the consumer market.
