As of 1 July 2026, all categories of farms in the Republic of Tajikistan recorded growth in the main livestock indicators. During this period, the cattle number reached 3.0979 million head, representing an increase of 246.3 thousand head, or 8.6%, compared to the same date in 2025.
At the same time, the number of sheep and goats totaled 8.3526 million head, increasing by 875.7 thousand head, or 11.7%, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The analysis shows that household farms continue to account for a significant share of the country’s livestock number. Of the total cattle number, 94.3% is raised by household farms, while household farms account for 82.0% of the total sheep and goat number.
An increase in livestock numbers was recorded across all major regions of the country. In particular, the cattle number in farms of Sughd Region increased by 10.8%, in Khatlon Region by 8.7%, in the Districts of Republican Subordination by 6.8%, and in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) by 4.9%, compared to the same period of the previous year.
