FISH FARMING OUTPUT AMOUNTED TO 45.1 MILLION SOMONIS

In the first four months of 2025, the volume of fish farming production in the Republic of Tajikistan amounted to 45.1 million somonis, which is 20 percent more compared to the same period last year.

According to the Agricultural and Environmental Statistics Department of the Agency on Statistics, 1585.1 tons of fish were harvested in fish farming enterprises across the country during this period. This included:

• Khatlon Region – 958.1 tons
• Sughd Region – 399.1 tons
• GBAO (Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region) – 0.4 tons
• Districts of Republican Subordination – 227.5 tons

Of the total fish catch:

• 622.4 tons were silver carp
• 170.6 tons – common carp
• 198.9 tons – trout
• 200.7 tons – white amur
• 2.3 tons – pikeperch
• 390.2 tons – other fish species

The production costs of fish farming enterprises for fish breeding and conducting research activities during this period amounted to 3.7 million somonis.

It is worth noting that in order to develop the sector and ensure the domestic market is supplied with fish, the “Comprehensive Program for the Development of Livestock, Poultry, Fish Farming, and Beekeeping in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2027” was approved by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in March 2023.
