CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY ON STATISTICS UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN, JAMSHED NURMAHMADZODA, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 34TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATE INDEPENDENCE

Dear colleagues,

The State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan is a historic event that marked a turning point in the modern history of the ancient Tajik nation. Thanks to this vital achievement, our people took the fate of their country and nation into their own hands. This year, we celebrate the 34th anniversary of this great milestone.

From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely congratulate all of you, dear colleagues, on this sacred national holiday.

When we speak of independence and freedom, unity and solidarity, prosperity and stability of our Motherland, the image of the respected Leader of the Nation inevitably comes to mind. It was precisely due to the efforts of this wise and visionary person that the formal independence of Tajikistan was transformed into real independence.

It is especially important to emphasize that the achievement of peace and stability, political calm, and national unity, as well as the salvation of the Tajik state from destruction and the protection of our people from fragmentation, are the greatest historical accomplishments of the independence era. These were made possible through tireless efforts, self-sacrifice, patriotism, and the wise leadership of the Leader of the Nation.

Today, our beloved country — Tajikistan — has achieved significant progress in all areas thanks to state independence.

Statistical data shows that over the 34 years of independence, steady growth has been ensured in all socio-economic sectors, laying a solid foundation for continued development.

According to statistics, in 2024, the volume of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) exceeded 150 billion somoni, with a real growth rate of 8.4%. On average, over the past five years, the country’s economic growth rate was 7.7%.

As a result of specific measures implemented, the monetary income of the population increased from 48 billion somoni in 2019 to 147 billion somoni in 2024 — a threefold increase. The average wage increased by more than 1.8 times, and the average pension grew by 1.5 times.

Dear friends,

Over the 34 years of state independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has achieved significant milestones step by step, and the path of independent Tajikistan toward development and prosperity continues. We are confident that in the upcoming year — the year of preparation for the grand 35th anniversary of Independence — our people and all state institutions will achieve even greater and more visible results.

Alongside other sectors, the national statistical system has also made notable progress.

Over the 34 years of independence, despite serious economic and financial challenges, the Agency on Statistics has achieved significant results in improving the quality, collection, and presentation of statistical data in social and economic sectors; strengthening cooperation with relevant organizations at various levels; exchanging professional experience; and implementing modern international statistical practices.

During the years of independence, the Agency successfully conducted:

• population censuses in 2000 and 2010,
• an agricultural census in 2013,
• and the population and housing census in 2020.

In all of these, the Agency’s staff demonstrated a high level of professionalism.

In recent years, with the full support of the respected President and the Government of the Republic, the country’s statistical authorities have achieved substantial success, including in:

• improving the quality of official statistics dissemination;
• full digitalization of reporting;
• transitioning to an electronic system of recordkeeping in rural and town municipalities (jamoats and settlements);
• reducing the reporting burden on data providers by introducing 231 electronic statistical reporting forms;
• providing modern equipment for data collection and storage;
• and renovating and improving working conditions for employees of the Agency’s central office and regional statistical departments.

I am confident that in the future, statistical professionals will continue to work honestly and faithfully for the sustainable development of the country.
