THE AGENCY ON STATISTICS HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE

On July 20, 2026, the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan held a press conference with the participation of representatives of the mass media.

During the press conference, media representatives were provided with comprehensive information on the results of the activities of the statistical authorities during the first half of 2026, the sector’s future priorities, as well as the key indicators of the socio-economic situation of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, delivered a detailed report on the performance of the statistical authorities during the first half of 2026, the progress in implementing statistical reforms, and the plans and priorities for the period ahead.

During the question-and-answer session, journalists raised various issues related to official statistics. In particular, they asked about:

• the structure and volume of the Republic of Tajikistan’s main exports and imports;
• the use of modern technologies and digital innovations in the official statistical system;
• migration statistics indicators;
• life expectancy and demographic indicators;
• the poverty rate;
• preparations for the upcoming Population and Housing Census;
• the number of women and men and the population structure of the Republic of Tajikistan;
• agricultural statistics indicators and the progress of crop cultivation;
• the Republic of Tajikistan’s main foreign trade partners.

The management of the Agency on Statistics provided detailed and comprehensive answers to all questions raised by the media representatives concerning the activities of the statistical authorities and official statistical indicators.
