POPULATION GROWTH IN TAJIKISTAN

During the first six months of 2025, the population of Tajikistan increased by 2.1%.
This was reported by the Department of Demographic Statistics, Employment, and Social Affairs of the Statistical Agency.

According to the department, as of July 1, 2025, the population of the country, taking into account births, deaths, and migration, reached 10603.8 thousand people.

Preliminary data shows that the natural population growth from January to June 2025 increased by 2.0% compared to the same period in 2024 and amounted to 98.9 thousand people, or 18.8 per 1,000 population.

It is also noted that in the first half of the current year, civil registry offices, in accordance with the timeframe established by law, registered 116.2 thousand newborns and 17.2 thousand deaths, including 0.8 thousand children under the age of one.

According to preliminary estimates, the crude birth rate and crude death rate amounted to 22.1 and 3.3 per 1,000 population, respectively.

It is reported that in the first half of 2025, the number of registered births in the country increased by 2.1% compared to the same period in 2024.
