PARTICIPATION OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY FOR STATISTICS IN THE 75TH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF HEADS OF STATISTICAL AUTHORITIES OF CIS MEMBER STATES

On April 24, 2026, the Director of the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Nurmakhmadzoda Jamshed, participated and delivered a speech at the 75th meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Authorities of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting, a wide range of important issues were discussed, including strengthening coordination among statistical authorities, improving statistical methodology and international standards, advancing digital technologies in data collection and processing, and expanding inter-agency cooperation.

In his speech, Nurmakhmadzoda Jamshed emphasized the importance of enhancing regional cooperation in statistics, noting that the exchange of experience and the adoption of best practices contribute to improving the quality and transparency of statistical data. He also highlighted that the use of modern technologies and the digitalization of statistical processes are among the priority areas for the sector’s development.

In addition, the Director raised the issue of implementing the State Program for the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship until 2027 and its Action Plan. Proposals were also made regarding the development and calculation of an indicative indicator — “the share of women’s entrepreneurship in Gross Domestic Product (GDP)” — with a view to its future adoption.

Members of the Council noted that, for proper consideration of this indicator, it is advisable to study the methodology for its calculation. It was also proposed to further develop cooperation among member states in this area. In particular, the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation expressed its readiness to provide methodological assistance.

Participants also discussed other key issues related to improving the statistical system, including aligning statistical indicators with international standards, implementing joint training programs for specialists, and enhancing information exchange among member states.

It was further proposed to include an additional activity in the CIS Statistical Committee’s Work Program up to 2030. This initiative aims to improve the collection and dissemination of statistical data in the tourism sector across CIS countries, as well as to refine the methodology for calculating value added and to develop tourism satellite accounts. The proposal was reviewed and deemed appropriate. Additionally, it was agreed to prepare commemorative statistical publications for the 35th anniversary of the CIS, reflecting the dynamics of key indicators of member states.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation, implementing joint initiatives, and ensuring the sustainable development of official statistical systems within the CIS framework.

The Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan will continue its efforts to enhance international cooperation and introduce best practices in the field of statistics.
