Meeting of the Director of the Agency on Statistics with the IMF Resident Representative in Tajikistan

On 14 September 2026, a meeting was held at the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan between Director Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda and Mr. Gazi Shbaikat, IMF Resident Representative in the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the parties positively assessed the current level of cooperation and expressed their readiness to continue and further expand professional and technical cooperation.

The Director of the Agency expressed his appreciation to the IMF for its continued support in the development of official statistics, including the provision of technical assistance, engagement of international experts, and professional development of Agency staff. It was emphasized that continued training and capacity building of specialists are important for strengthening their professional skills and applying international best practices.

The parties paid particular attention to the improvement of the System of National Accounts of the Republic of Tajikistan, emphasizing the importance of continued IMF technical assistance, expert missions, and further improvement of the quality of macroeconomic accounts.

The meeting also addressed the regular and timely exchange of economic and statistical information. The IMF Resident Representative emphasized the importance of access to complete, high-quality, reliable, and timely data for the analysis and assessment of the country’s economic situation. In this regard, the Director of the Agency expressed his readiness to continue providing the necessary statistical information and macroeconomic indicators within the Agency’s mandate.

The parties also discussed strengthening institutional capacity, automating data collection and processing processes, applying modern technologies, improving statistical calculation methods, and enhancing the dissemination and accessibility of statistical information.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their satisfaction with the discussions and reaffirmed their readiness to continue effective cooperation, expand technical assistance, and implement joint initiatives aimed at further developing the national statistical system of the Republic of Tajikistan.
