Khurshed QOSIMOV: As a result of the necessary measures and timely actions, the country’s agricultural sector continues to develop annually

The Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, consistently emphasizes in his speeches the importance of ensuring the country’s food security, rational land use, expanding the area of food crop cultivation, harvesting crops without losses, and ensuring the stable supply of the domestic market.

According to the Department of Agricultural Statistics and Environmental Protection of the Statistical Agency, based on the collection, processing, and analysis of statistical reports, it was established that in the first seven months of the current year, agricultural production in the country increased by 105.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Khurshed Qosimov, Head of the Department of Agricultural Statistics and Environmental Protection of the Statistical Agency, stated in an interview with us that thanks to the necessary measures and timely initiatives, the agricultural sector of the country has been steadily growing year by year. From January to July 2025, the total volume of gross agricultural output across all categories of farms amounted to 32 billion 260.1 million somoni, which in comparable prices is 5.0% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
Specifically:

• Crop production reached 21 billion 228.7 million somoni (+1.9%),
• Livestock production amounted to 11 billion 031.4 million somoni (+11.4%).

According to Kasimov, the share of the Khatlon region in the total agricultural output of the country during this period was 54.5%, with the volume of production amounting to 17 billion 600.5 million somoni, which is 104.1% compared to the previous year.

During the same period, the share of public (state-owned) farms in total agricultural output was 14.4%, including:

• Sughd region – 20.8%,
• Khatlon region – 11.9%,
• Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) – 6.6%,
• Districts under republican subordination – 11.4%.

Furthermore, dehkan (peasant) farms accounted for 38.8% of total agricultural production during this period.
Household farms contributed 46.8% of the total volume.

“The Department of Agricultural Statistics and Environmental Protection of the Statistical Agency, recognizing the importance of the agricultural sector in the socio-economic life of the country, consistently strives to ensure high-quality collection, processing, and finalization of statistical reports in this field within the established deadlines,” stated Khurshed Kasimov.
