The mining industry of Tajikistan, taking into account various factors including geographic conditions, is considered the backbone of the country’s economy. New production chains are formed around it, and this sector is regarded as one of the most important within the structure of the economy and industry.
In 2025, more than 20 billion somoni worth of products were produced in the mining industry, and the production volume increased by 36.2 percent compared to 2024 in comparable prices.
Growth in the mining sector by type of product compared to 2024 was driven by coal and boron extraction — up 10.6 percent; crude oil and natural gas — 1.6 times higher; metallic ores — up 36.0 percent; and other minerals — up 30.3 percent.
During this period, output in the manufacturing industry reached 34 billion 595.4 million somoni. Of this amount, food products including beverages and tobacco accounted for 12.4 billion somoni; textile and garment production — 4.2 billion somoni; wood and paper products and publishing activities — 769.0 million somoni; petroleum products — 54.9 million somoni; chemical products — 665.7 million somoni; other non-metallic mineral products — 4.5 billion somoni; and metallurgy and fabricated metal products — 10.6 billion somoni.
Overall, industrial production in the manufacturing sector increased by 10.5 percent.
