MEETING OF SPECIALISTS FROM NATIONAL STATISTICAL OFFICES OF CIS MEMBER STATES ON IMPROVING INFORMATION SUPPORT FOR NATIONAL STATISTICAL SERVICES IN THE REGION

Yesterday, in the city of Dushanbe, a meeting of specialists from the national statistical offices of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states began. The event was attended by the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda; the Chairman of the CIS Statistical Committee, Mr. Kairat Laikham; as well as representatives from the statistical offices of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Statistical Committee. The meeting is dedicated to the improvement of information support for national statistical services in the region.

This event was organized in accordance with the decision of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS Member States, adopted at the 71st session of the Council.

On the first day of the meeting, Mr. Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered the opening address. He wished the participants a successful and productive discussion and implementation of the tasks at hand.

In his speech, Mr. Nurmahmadzoda emphasized the importance of holding this meeting in the context of rapid technological advancement and global digitalization. He stressed that the meeting plays a crucial role in improving the statistical systems of CIS countries, particularly in such priority areas as the implementation of modern digital tools and ensuring data transparency.

It was highlighted that only through joint cooperation in the implementation of information technologies, systematic development of artificial intelligence, development and dissemination of open data based on international standards — including foreign trade statistics — and the use of modern tools for data processing and transmission across various sectors, can significant progress be achieved.

Furthermore, during the meeting, participants discussed the formation and modern approaches to the timely dissemination of statistical information using IT and artificial intelligence, aiming to improve user satisfaction with official statistics. They also reviewed current practices in the preparation of official statistics in CIS member states, as well as the implementation of recommendations from international experts of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS.
