THE STATE OF THE TRADE SECTOR IN THE COUNTRY IS ASSESSED AS SIGNIFICANT

According to statistical data, in January–July 2025, the volume of wholesale and retail trade, as well as vehicle repair services, amounted to 40 billion 12.2 million somoni, which is 12.5% higher in comparable prices compared to the same period last year.

During the first seven months of the current year, the turnover of retail trade and vehicle repair increased by 10.7% compared to the same period in 2024.

The total volume of retail trade and vehicle repair amounted to 33.5 billion somoni. Specifically, on the country’s food, clothing, and mixed markets, goods worth 14.6 billion somoni were sold, accounting for 43.6% of the total retail turnover. During this period, the following sales were recorded:

• 3.2 billion somoni worth of live animals,
• 1.1 billion somoni worth of automobiles, motorcycles, and spare parts,
• 6.2 billion somoni worth of petroleum products,
• 7.8 billion somoni worth of other goods.

It is noted that during the reporting period, the average retail trade and vehicle repair turnover per capita amounted to 3918.3 somoni.

According to statistical analysis, the largest share of wholesale and retail trade turnover, as well as vehicle repair, was recorded in Sughd Region (29.3%) and Dushanbe City (30.0%).

The share of trade turnover in the non-state sector accounted for 99.8% of the total volume.
