TAJIKISTAN DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN THE 57TH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS STATISTICAL COMMISSION

The delegation of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, is participating in the 57th session of the Statistical Commission of the United Nations, held from March 3 to 6 in New York City, United States.

The UN Statistical Commission is the highest body of the international statistical system. At its annual sessions, global standards for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of statistical data are reviewed and adopted. The session considers reports on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals and existing challenges, the System of National Accounts, population and housing censuses, new sources and methods of data collection, particularly the use of big data.

During the high-level segment, heads of national statistical offices exchange experience on achievements and the development of national statistical systems with the involvement of development partners, the use of modern equipment and technologies, the transition to electronic reporting, the integration of databases with other ministries and agencies, as well as the acquisition and incorporation of data from new sources into official statistics.

On the first day of the session, a report by the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, on social and demographic statistics was presented. The Tajik delegation will also deliver official statements on other topics.

Additionally, meetings between the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and representatives of international organizations and heads of national statistical offices are scheduled on the sidelines of the session to discuss further cooperation.
