REGULAR MEETING OF THE COORDINATION COUNCIL IN THE FIELD OF STATISTICS AND CELEBRATION OF WORLD STATISTICS DAY

Today, the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan held a regular meeting of the Coordination Council in the field of statistics dedicated to World Statistics Day. The meeting was attended by the leadership and staff of the Agency, the Head of the UNFPA Country Office in Tajikistan, representatives of international organizations, members of the Coordination Council on statistical issues, and representatives of ministries and agencies.

In his congratulatory speech on the occasion of World Statistics Day, the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmuhammadzoda, emphasized that the celebration of this date is a recognition of the valuable contribution of specialists whose dedicated and responsible work ensures the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of statistical data.

He noted that in today’s world, accurate statistical data and analysis are key sources for shaping state policy and ensuring effective governance. Given the importance of this field, during the years of independence, under the wise leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the national statistical system has developed progressively and achieved significant results.

In particular, during the years of independence, important steps have been taken in Tajikistan to improve the national statistical system, introduce modern methods of data collection and processing, transition to digital technologies, digitalize reporting, and harmonize indicators with international standards.

As a result, today the statistical authorities, through the use of modern information technologies and new working methods, have managed to elevate the processes of data collection, storage, and analysis to a qualitatively new level, aligning them with international norms.

During the meeting, the Head of the UNFPA Country Office in Tajikistan, Nargis Rahimova, emphasized that the Donor Coordination Council on Data and Statistics plays an important role in the development of the statistical system of Tajikistan. The main goal of the Council is the efficient use of allocated funds, avoidance of duplication or overlapping initiatives in the field of statistics, resolution of issues related to financing events and projects, and ensuring the purposeful use of statistical data.

It should be noted that to date, the Agency on Statistics has established fruitful cooperation with international and financial institutions, including the World Bank, UNFPA, International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and other development partners.

Jamshed Nurmuhammadzoda expressed satisfaction with the cooperation and comprehensive support provided by these organizations and reaffirmed the Agency’s readiness to further strengthen partnerships.

According to the meeting agenda, the Agency’s specialists presented a report on the achievements, challenges, and priorities of the national statistical system, as well as the results of the Global Assessment of the Statistical System of Tajikistan.

In conclusion, the participants discussed future cooperation in the field of state statistics of Tajikistan, identified priority areas, and exchanged views on other relevant issues.
