Tourism in Tajikistan is one of the key sectors of the country’s economic development, and in recent years this sector has been developing rapidly in the Republic of Tajikistan.
As a result, the number of foreign visitors to Tajikistan continues to grow annually.
In 2025, 2,104.7 thousand foreign nationals visited Tajikistan. This represents an increase of 501.4 thousand people, or 31.3%, compared to the previous year.
According to statistical data, more than 1,784.4 thousand of them are classified as tourists in accordance with the methodology of the World Tourism Organization. This figure is 27.4% higher than the previous year.
The number of foreign nationals arriving from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) amounted to 1,932.8 thousand people, or 91.8% of the total, of whom 1,634.5 thousand were tourists.
The number of foreign nationals arriving from non-CIS countries totaled 171.9 thousand people (8.2% of the total), of whom 149.9 thousand were tourists.
During the reporting period, the majority of foreign visitors to Tajikistan came from Uzbekistan — 1,117.8 thousand people, accounting for 53.1% of the total.
The number of tourists arriving in 2025 from Russia exceeded 617.5 thousand (29.3%). Third place was held by Kyrgyzstan (141.3 thousand), followed by Kazakhstan (39.3 thousand) and Turkmenistan (6.6 thousand).
Among non-CIS countries, the leading sources were: China — 42.2 thousand; Afghanistan — 18.7 thousand; Iran — 14.5 thousand; United States — over 13 thousand; Germany — over 8 thousand; Turkey — 6.8 thousand; India — 5.2 thousand; Japan — 4.4 thousand; Italy — 4.1 thousand; France — 3.7 thousand; Pakistan and Austria — 3.6 thousand each; Republic of Korea — 3.3 thousand; United Kingdom — 3.0 thousand; Canada — 2.6 thousand; Netherlands — 2.0 thousand; Spain and Malaysia — 1.4 thousand each; Switzerland and Philippines — 1.3 thousand each; Indonesia and Czech Republic — 1.1 thousand each; and Singapore — over 1 thousand visitors.
