Human Rights Day Event Held at the Agency for Statistics

Today, an event dedicated to Human Rights Day (December 10) was held at the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event was attended by the leadership and staff of the Agency, as well as a representative of the National Center for Legislation under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The participants highly valued the role and position of the Tajik nation throughout history in recognizing and respecting human rights.

Deputy Director of the Agency for Statistics, Nazarzoda Zarina, noted that the recognition, respect, protection, and promotion of human rights are among the main goals of societal reforms and transformations. These efforts aim to redefine the role and status of individuals, ensure decent living conditions, guarantee freedom and inviolability, provide social protection, and enhance active participation in state governance — processes that have been gradually implemented during the years of independence.

It was recalled that the Cyrus the Great Declaration was the first document in human history to define human rights, laying the foundation for the adoption of other human rights instruments.

It was emphasized that in Tajikistan, as an integral and full-fledged member of the global community, special attention has been paid to ensuring human and civil rights and freedoms from the first days of independence.

According to Article 5 of the Constitution, the human being, his/her rights and freedoms are recognized as the highest value; the state is responsible for recognizing, respecting, and protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals and citizens.

“The Republic of Tajikistan has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the field of human rights, greatly due to the efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon. The establishment of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, the Ombudsman for Child Rights, and other institutions directly related to human rights is the result of the Leader’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the status of the individual and the rights and freedoms of every citizen,” stated the representative of the National Center for Legislation.

We are proud that during the years of independence, special attention has been given to human rights and their protection. This is because the policy of our esteemed Leader, Emomali Rahmon, is based on law and justice. He has repeatedly emphasized that “the main wealth of Tajikistan is its children, its citizens.” In other words, the state values every person and considers their rights inviolable.

From the perspective of legislation, Tajikistan is among the countries that have developed a robust legal framework to define and ensure human rights.

It was expressed with confidence that all relevant human rights protection institutions will continue, as they do today, to work with loyalty to the Leader of the Nation, the state, and the Government, and that the rights of every person in our country will continue to be guaranteed at a high level.
