In the context of globalization and intense economic competition, sustainable development of the national economy is one of the main goals of the state policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. In this process, the transport sector plays an important role as one of the key areas of the economy. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, consistently emphasizes in his annual addresses to the Parliament the importance of developing transport infrastructure, considering it a key factor for economic progress, regional integration, and improving living standards.
According to Bakhtovar Davlatzoda, a lecturer at DDMIT, transport infrastructure forms the foundation for the functioning of various sectors of the economy — industry, agriculture, trade, tourism, and services. Without modern roads, reliable transport, and an efficient logistics network, sustainable economic development is impossible.
Transport infrastructure includes highways, railways, air transport, bridges, tunnels, terminals, and other facilities related to the movement of goods and passengers. This sector is not only a means of transportation but also a driver of economic and social relations. In the Leader of the Nation’s address, it is emphasized that the development of transport infrastructure is particularly important for mountainous countries, including Tajikistan. Given the country’s geographical location and natural conditions, the construction of modern roads and overcoming communication isolation are considered among the most significant achievements of the independence period.
