PARTICIPATION OF THE DELEGATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN IN THE MEETING OF THE EXPERT GROUP ON CHILDREN’S STATISTICS

From 4 to 6 March 2026, an expert meeting on child-related statistics was held in Geneva, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and UNICEF. The meeting brought together representatives of national statistical offices, child protection institutions, international organizations, and technical experts from countries of Europe, Central Asia, and North America to improve the quality, accessibility, and international comparability of child-related statistics.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, led by the First Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Aso Nurullo Asvat, together with Parviz Olimzoda, Chief Specialist of the Human Rights Guarantees Department of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Shukufa Ibodova, a specialist from the UNICEF office in Tajikistan, participated in the event and presented the state policy on the development of child-related statistics.

In particular, a presentation was delivered on the implementation of the “Roadmap for Improving Child-Related Statistics in Tajikistan,” including the country’s experience in strengthening inter-agency coordination, improving the quality of administrative data, and integrating child-related indicators into the national data system.

Speaking on behalf of Tajikistan, Aso Nurullo Asvat emphasized the importance of this event for harmonizing methodologies, introducing international statistical standards, and establishing a stronger national data system on related issues.

The head of the working group also presented in detail Tajikistan’s achievements in implementing the Roadmap for Improving Child-Related Statistics, including strengthening inter-agency coordination, modernizing administrative data flow processes, improving the quality of information, and integrating child-related indicators into the national data system.

The event covered the following key topics:

  • statistics on children with disabilities;
  • children in alternative care;
  • violence against children;
  • measurement of mental health;
  • dissemination and use of child-related statistics.
