INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION GROWTH RATE REACHED 124.5%

Industrial production, compared to other sectors of the economy, including agriculture, has been steadily developing and now plays an important role in job creation, export of goods, growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and overall economic development of the country.

In the first seven months of this year, industrial enterprises together with private entrepreneurs produced goods worth 34.8941 billion somoni, which, in comparable prices, is an increase of 24.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The main factors contributing to the growth in industrial production were increases in the volumes of:

  • Mining industry – by 1.7 times
  • Manufacturing industry – by 6.0%
  • Electricity, gas, steam supply, and air purification – by 12.7%
  • Water supply, waste treatment, and secondary raw material processing – by 15.2%

During the reporting period (January–July 2025), the mining industry produced goods worth 11.7 billion somoni, which is 1.7 times more than during the same period of the previous year in comparable prices.

The growth in the mining industry by type of product, compared to the same period of the previous year, was ensured by:

  • Extraction of coal and boron – 5.6%
  • Crude oil and natural gas – 2.0 times
  • Metal ores – 1.7 times
  • Various other minerals – 42.2%

The volume of production in the manufacturing industry during this period reached 16.2 billion somoni, including:

  • Food products (including beverages and tobacco) – 5.5 billion somoni
  • Textile and garment production – 1.5 billion somoni
  • Wood and paper products, publishing activities – 393.5 million somoni
  • Petroleum products – 27.0 million somoni
  • Chemical products – 303.3 million somoni
  • Non-metallic mineral products – 2.2 billion somoni
  • Metallurgical products and finished metal goods – 5.3 billion somoni

Overall, production in the manufacturing sector increased by 6.0%.

From January to September 2024, the production of food products, including beverages and tobacco, increased by 9.4%, including:

  • Vodka and liquor products – 33.9%
  • Pasta – 19.0%
  • Confectionery – 12.2%
  • Chicken meat – 20.0%

The volume of electricity, gas production and distribution, and air purification in the first 7 months of this year amounted to more than 6.6 billion somoni, reflecting a growth rate of 112.7%.

The volume of water supply, sanitation, waste treatment, and secondary processing services during the same period reached 206.0 million somoni.

In the structure of the country’s industrial production, the largest share belongs to:

  • Sughd region61%
  • Khatlon region19.4%

The average volume of industrial production per capita across the country amounted to 3,357.17 somoni.

During the reporting period, 3,887 industrial enterprises were operating, including:

  • In the mining sector – 351 enterprises
  • In the manufacturing sector – 3,361 enterprises
  • In electricity, gas, steam supply, and air purification – 72 enterprises
  • In water supply and waste treatment – 103 enterprises
