The regular meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was conducted on September 16, 2016 in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Ms. Hasanzoda Gulnora Kenja, Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan took part during the work of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The agenda of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS Member States included the issues related to the policies, security and stability in the area of the Commonwealth, humanitarian cooperation, as well as the census of population in 2020 in the Member States of the CIS.
Conducting a census of the population in 2020 was supported by the Council of Heads of the CIS Member States.
In the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Census of Population” dated May 19, 2009 №523 and the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “On preparation and conduction of census of population and housing of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2020” adopted on October 12, 2015 under No 572 the next census of population and housing will be conducted in 2020
The results of the census will serve as the basis for creation of the entire statistical database system in terms of the characteristics of the population. They will be used for samples during the important surveys on manpower, living conditions, as well as when clarifying the current statistics and different socio-demographic calculations.
The census results are the fundamental base material for the development of long-term strategies for sustainable economic and social development, as well as medium-term plans. In addition, this is an important information resource that allows to evaluate how the country was developed in the past, how this development is fixed, what kind of groundwork have to be done and what plans should be shaped in the future.
