The experts on social statistics of the Statistical Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan conducted a seminar on gender statistics within “Gender and Democratic Governance in Development: Delivering Services for Women” project. It was held in the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP).
The goal of the seminar was to present the results of the assessment of gender statistics in social protection, to discuss future plans for training and regulatory frameworks on gender statistics.
Norov K.D., the Deputy Director of the Statistical Agency, and Radjabov R.O., the head of labor relations department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, gave an open speech at the seminar and explained the goals and objectives of the statistical agencies in the gender policy.
This seminar was attended by experts of the Research Institute for Labor, experts of the department of social protection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, specialists of the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions, a representative of international organization ‘UN Women’ and others.
Budnikova E.V., the head of the social statistics division of the Statistical Agency, made a presentation on the evaluation of available statistics on access to social protection of the population, especially for women and children.
The seminar participants got acquainted with the database of the Statistical Agency in order to further apply and use this mechanism in the agencies of social protection at the district level, which will facilitate access to the MLSP administrative data.
Particular emphasis was made on provision of statistical data on payment of social securities and pensions in terms of gender, revision of existing forms of statistical reporting, deadlines for the submission of data for the timely statistical publication "Women and Men in the Republic of Tajikistan."
To update the database indicators on the situation of women and children in the Republic of Tajikistan, the Statistical Agency proposed new indicators, such as a share of total expenditure on social protection by risks/functions, payment for family/children in a particular vulnerable group as a percentage of all money payment for family/children.
The seminar participants presented their comments and suggestions to improve the coordination of the experts’ activity involved in or responsible for data collection on gender statistics, to improve data on payment of social securities and the number of recipients region-wise.
Taking into account the participants’ suggestions, the Statistical Agency plans to conduct training for the specialists of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and its agencies at the district level.
